With 2016 slowly coming to an end, interior designers are already looking out for a range of diverse colours, patterns and fabrics that 2017 will bring along. We’ve had the opportunity to witness the Pantone’s colour of the 2017, and judging by it we’re going to face bold tones and innovative patterns, as well. The upcoming year will definitely try to top the revolutionary 2016.
According to Pantone, the colour of 2017 is fresh and zesty yellow-green shade. It’s the perfect colour for living room and bedroom walls. When matched with neutral tones you’ll get the perfect balance of clean look with a pop of colour. On the other hand, you can opt to get the accents as cushions, rugs, or decorative items in the green shade, while painting the room a neutral hue. Dark green is also a colour that many will love in 2017, because it’s excellent to match with natural linen, brass lamps, reindeer fur or tan leather accents in the room.
Denim, indigo and navy shades were the dominant trend of 2016, and they’ll still be popular in the year to come. Blue is the new black, whether you choose it for accent colour or if you opt for painting it entire room this beautiful colour. When it comes to marble and copper, opinions are pretty divided when it comes to the question whether they’ll be a huge hit in 2017 as they were in 2016. While some experts claim we’re done with these trends, others believe that we’ll still see some combination of marble and weathered wood. Nevertheless, one thing is certain, a stainless steel kitchen is going to be one of the favourite trends for the year to come.
Grey stands hand in hand with calming blue tones, and represents another trend for 2017. What makes grey so perfect is the fact that it flawlessly matches blue tones, and creates serene environment in the room. Combining grey with black tones will bring an industrial-like feel to the home, while a combination of pastel and grey hues creates the fabulous subtle feel.
Cool and white tones are going to be replaced with warmer materials like terracotta. To create a warm and pleasant ambience choose terracotta tiles with matte finish. You could combine terracotta floor tiles with green items and have the perfect combination of two leading trends. What’s more, feature terracotta tiles in bathroom floor, or use it for cladding fireplace as well.
Another material that’s making a huge comeback is cork. If you thought you won’t see it trending ever again, 2017 will prove you wrong because everything from furniture, walls and accessories will feature cork. Get that extra layer of texture by combining cork with monochrome colour palette, and create the perfect office space.
2017 is going to be all about bringing the outdoors in, so don’t be surprised to see hardwood floors, ceramics and rattan everywhere. These perfect objects will detach us from the digital world we’re constantly immersed in, and get us in touch with nature again. What’s more, amazing decorative concrete in combination with gold will be one of the ground-breaking ideas in interior design next year.
Floaty silks and sheer materials, alongside X-ray materials and transparent fabrics will bring a romantic feel to 2017. The soft romantic trend will mix metallic, opal, Lucite, raw-cut quartz, and metals to add a bit of dazzle, leaving pastel shades of pink and blue behind.
Warm, earthy and deep colours as green, blue, and grey will create the sophisticated, warmer and well-balanced ambiance in your home. The combination of bright colours, noble and warm natural materials will help you bring the outdoors in and feel in touch with nature again. However, we feel this is just the tip of the iceberg, and that 2017 will bring even more iconic and revolutionary trends we’ll love.
